A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH TO COLLEGE READINESS

COLLEGE READINESS INTRODUCTORY PACKAGE

In collaboration with Sandy Reader www.efcoachreader.com/ and Thrive College Counseling, we are offering a unique introductory package specifically designed for neurodiverse students and their families preparing for the college transition. Preparing for college and adulthood takes more than just academic readiness—it requires key life and executive functioning (EF) skills. Our introductory package helps you and your student identify areas for growth, assess college readiness, and build a clear understanding of what's expected in a college environment—especially how those expectations differ from high school. Together, we'll create a personalized plan to support your student's success.

Package Timeline: Approximately 6-8 weeks to complete all components.

What's Included:

  • Initial Free Consultation: Meet with Sandy and Marci to discuss the transition to college, share relevant background information, and learn about our services.
  • Strong Interest Inventory and Meeting with Marci: Marci will share a link to take the Strong Interest Inventory, a 30-minute assessment which helps students identify career fields that align with their interests. After the survey is completed by the student, the student will have a one-hour meeting with Marci to review the results and discuss practical information to help the student consider future goals. This will serve to motivate and offer direction for the student as they begin to address their college readiness and EF skill building.
  • Executive Function Assessment: Sandy will provide a 20–30-minute survey for both the student and parent, offering a detailed assessment of how prepared the student is to manage academic, personal, and daily responsibilities that come with the transition to college. This insight will guide the skill-building work we'll do during our four coaching sessions, help students understand their current strengths and growth areas, and offer a clear starting point for developing the executive function skills needed for success in high school, college, and beyond.
  • Skill-Building Sessions with Sandy: Students attend four 30-minute individual sessions with Sandy to begin working on practical strategies that strengthen time management, organization, planning, and other key EF skills.
  • Progress Review & Planning: Wrap up with a joint meeting with Sandy and Marci to review progress, reflect on next steps, and outline a plan for continued growth and preparation for college life. This may include recommendations for ongoing coaching, additional resources, or specific college preparation strategies.

What Makes Our Approach Unique

Unlike traditional models where support is divided by discipline, our integrated approach brings these elements together as a team. This collaboration helps students build a more cohesive understanding of what's needed for a successful transition to college.
We also recognize that it can be challenging for parents to objectively assess their student's readiness for college—especially when academic skills may not reflect readiness for independence, self-management, or the demands of campus life. Our model offers guidance through a strengths-based lens, helping families clarify the full picture and create meaningful strategies to support their student's next steps after high school.
